After more than a year of severe GPU shortage, the market is empty, except for overpriced graphics cards for aspiring PC manufacturers to turn to for help. But now it seems AMD may have a solution.

There are rumors that the manufacturer plans to release two new graphics cards for budget gaming: AMD Radeon RX 6500XT and RX 6400.

According to the latest information, a new Radeon RX 6500XT card was found next to the RX 6400. Both cards have only 4GB of GDDR6 memory. If this turns out to be true, these cards will be the first RDNA2 AMD GPUs with less than 8GB of GDDR6 memory.

It is said that these new cards can run on Navi 24 GPU, which is a cheap graphics processor. They will also have up to 16 computing units and 1,024 stream processors. Compared with the Navi 23 graphics card, this does not guarantee excellent performance-AMD's new GPU will have 50% of the cores contained in the Navi 23 graphics card. The graphics processor is rumored to be running on a 64-bit memory bus.

So far, no other information about these cards has been leaked. The 6500XT is likely to be the full version of the card, while the RX 6400 is the reduced version. One thing is for sure-they are definitely entry-level, suitable for light games and home theater, rather than playing AAA games at maximum settings.

For less demanding gamers, RX 6500XT and RX 6400 may be sufficient. Older games should run smoothly, and if you upgrade from a card that was released many years ago, you will still see improvements. Newer games may require some compromises in graphics settings, but popular MOBA and shooting games should still run smoothly at medium settings.

The new Navi 24 GPU has been found in the Linux patch and is called "Beige Goby". It makes sense for AMD to include these cards in budget gaming laptops. Although many people are waiting for more announcements about the Nvidia RTX 3050, for the Red Team, this is undoubtedly a good time to hit and target the entry-level market. Intel seems to have the same idea, because new leaks indicate that the price of Intel Arc Alchemist graphics cards may be surprisingly affordable.

The leak was first posted on Twitter by @KOMACHI_ENSAKA and later elaborated by Videocardz. Although Komachi mentioned that he found a list of the card, he did not provide a link, so the information is difficult to verify. Komachi is a well-known source of graphics-related leaks and has a good record, but like any other rumors, it is best to be skeptical of this information.

Although these new Radeon cards may not fill the gap in the best graphics card market left by the shortage of GPUs, they will certainly help. Gamers who need GPUs may adapt to any port during the storm and go down the budget path until the price finally returns to normal.
